The cremation rate, that used to be about 25 percent in 1999, is projected to double by the turn of 2017. The shift is attributable to several philosophical, social, environmental and technological reasons. In addition, scarcity of land - a growing concern in all developed countries - is one of the biggest factors driving the change.
