“Grief never ends…but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of Love.” —Unknown
We are committed to helping you make your journey through grief with tranquility and confidence. A beautiful urn that holds the cremains of your beloved forever honors them and helps you and your family to heal.
Choosing the right urn size is crucial to ensure that the cremains of your loved one are properly contained. Adult urns are typically classified into different categories based on their capacity to hold the cremains. The size category you choose depends on the volume of ashes, which varies depending on the individual's weight before cremation. Most adult urns hold approximately 200 cubic inches of ashes, but there are options for those who wish to share or keep a portion of the ashes in smaller urns or jewelry urns. Be sure to consider the amount of ashes you wish to store or scatter when selecting the right size for your loved one’s final resting place.
For more guidance on choosing the right urn, please visit our Steps to Choose a Cremation Urn.
As a general rule, 1 pound of body weight equals 1 cubic inch of urn capacity. This means that a person weighing 150 lbs will need a 150 cubic inch urn. For individuals with larger body sizes, you'll want to select an urn that corresponds to their body weight to ensure the cremains are properly accommodated.
Urns for adult ashes are classic funerary art: in precious wood, engraved with a brass plaque, or a clock, or with a photo insert; in the ancient shape of a brightly colored ceramic urn, engraved and with designs of birds, butterflies, sunsets, and more; in the sculptural shape of a heart or bird in brass, or composite / alloy material. Small candle holder urns hold a lovely tealight on top.
Biodegradable scattering urns are ideal for those who want to have their cremains gracefully returned to the earth, sea, or sky. There are almost as many kinds of adult urns for ashes as there are ways to celebrate your unique loved one’s life.
Since it can be overwhelming to choose an urn for Mom or Dad or any family member or loved one, please explore our site gently. Take the time you need to find what best fits your departed and your family’s needs.
Some considerations are: the type of ceremony you are planning, your budget and whether you want a permanent urn or one you can use to scatter ashes. When picking a style, think of your loved one’s character. Classic or modern? Philosophical or playful? Modest or flamboyant?
Most of our urns seal safely and completely with a threaded lid/opening. You can also add a drop or two of epoxy glue to the threads of the lid/opening of the urn. Ceramic cremation urnswill need to be sealed using epoxy glue in order to close completely and permanently, as they are not equipped with a threaded lid.
Most adult sized urns have an interior storage space of 200 cubic inches. There are also smaller urns that can be used to share cremains with others, holding just a cup or two of ashes, or beautiful jewelry urns that hold just a pinch.
